The Relativistic Hermite Polynomials and the Wave Equation
Solutions of the homogeneous 2D scalar wave equation of a type reminiscent of the “splash pulse” waveform are investigated in some detail. In particular, it is shown that the “higher-order” solutions relative to a given “fundamental” one, from which they are obtained through a definite “generation scheme”, come to involve the relativistic Hermite polynomials. This parallels the results of a pre...
متن کاملHybrid domain decomposition solvers for scalar and vectorial wave equation
We present hybrid finite element methods, which are equivalent to a discontinuous Galerkin method based on the ultra weak variational formulation (UWVF) by Cessenat and Despres. When solving a scalar or vectorial wave equation with hybrid finite elements, normal and tangential continuity of the flux field, respectively, is broken across element interfaces and reinforced again by introducing hyb...
متن کاملAlternating Implicit Block FDTD Method For Scalar Wave Equation
In this paper, an alternating implicit block method for solving two dimensional scalar wave equation is presented. The new method consist of two stages for each time step implemented in alternating directions which are very simple in computation. To increase the speed of computation, a group of adjacent points is computed simultaneously. It is shown that the presented method increase the maximu...
متن کاملAnExplicit Hermite-TaylorMethod for the Schrödinger Equation
An explicit spectrally accurate order-adaptive Hermite-Taylor method for the Schrödinger equation is developed. Numerical experiments illustrating the properties of the method are presented. The method, which is able to use very coarse grids while still retaining high accuracy, compares favorably to an existing exponential integrator high order summation-by-parts finite difference method.
متن کاملError Analysis of the Strang Time-Splitting Laguerre-Hermite/Hermite Collocation Methods for the Gross-Pitaevskii Equation
The aim of this paper is to carry out a rigorous error analysis for the Strang splitting Laguerre–Hermite/Hermite collocation methods for the time-dependent Gross–Pitaevskii equation (GPE). We derive error estimates for full discretizations of the three-dimensional GPE with cylindrical symmetry by the Strang splitting Laguerre–Hermite collocation method, and for the d-dimensional GPE by the Str...
